Book
Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. Hardcover with navy blue, nearly black cloth over boards; gilt lettering across cover and along spine (text along spine reads from foot to crown rather than typical crown to foot). Golden insignia set in center of cover, matching lettering. Faded area at bottom right corner of front cover, seemingly due to water damage. Extends about halfway up the length of the book, and a third of the width of the book, becoming less concentrated/faded further from that corner. Covers the lettering of "Gravestones," half of "Inscriptions," "York," and a small corner of the insignia. Does not obscure any of that text, simply fades it to a more bronze shade at its most concentrated. Cloth over boards slightly raised from boards themselves in wrinkles at three separate locations within water damaged area, less than an inch long each. Spine very slightly faded, corner lightly bumped. Title page and cover dated 1953. Copyright page dated only 1953. 175 pages, preceded by foreword by Howard C. Schade, author's introduction, and explanatory notes. Main body of text features list of graves and inscriptions, glossy black and white pictures of graves, and alphabetical index of names. Large fold-out map of burying ground glued to back attached endpaper. Pages very lightly toned, photographic pages still glossy. Author's name written in pencil on title page. Pages otherwise clean. Binding loosening at crown of spine, but secure at foot and along hinges. Please email us with questions or to request photos.
