L'Exil et le Royaume est un recueil de nouvelles Ăcrit par Albert Camus et paru en 1957. C'est la dernière Ĺ“uvre littĂraire de Camus publiĂe du vivant de l'auteur.
Le recueil comporte six textes :
- La femme adultère
- Le renĂgat (ou un esprit confus)
- Les muets
- L'hĂ´te
- Jonas (ou l'artiste au travail)
- La pierre qui pousse.
Chacun de ces textes illustre le sentiment d'insatisfaction et d'Ăchec du personnage central et sa difficultĂ Ă trouver « Le Royaume », c'est-Ă -dire un sens Ă sa vie et le bonheur en dĂpassant l'opposition apparente des contraires comme « solitaire/solidaire ».
Les personnages ont des parcours propres dans des cadres diffĂrents situĂs surtout en AlgĂrie (le campement nomade dans le dĂsert, les bourgades du sud, l'Ăcole isolĂe dans la montagne, les quartiers ouvriers d'Alger) mais aussi dans un quartier bourgeois de Paris ou un village du BrĂsil

About the Author:
Albert Camuswas born in Algeria in 1913. During World War II, he joined the Resistance movement in Paris, then became editor-in-chief of the newspaper Combat during the Liberation. A novelist, playwright, and essayist, he is most famous for his novels The Stranger and The Plague. He was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1957.
