UC Davis Students Tell It Like It Is

So how does UC Davis stack up against its other prestigious UC counterparts? The College Prowler guide to Davis will answer all your questions about what UC Davis is really like, with quotes and student-written testimonials on over twenty different aspects of college life!

Greek Freaks?

"About nine percent of Davis students are Greek, so it's not an overwhelming population. Frat parties do make up a significant percentage of the party scene, but students don't have to be Greek to go."

Two to One!

"UC Davis is the six-time winners of NACDA Directors' Cup for best Division II program (before they became DI) in the nation-more than any other school."

Science with a Conscience!

"Two UC Davis centers-for Fuel Cell Vehicles and Hybrid Drivetrains-have been named as U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) National Centers within the DOE's Centers of Automotive Technology Excellence program."

Hot Nights?

"Unfortunately, Davis hardly offers a kicking bar scene, and it's not exactly considered a hot spot for clubs or dance clubs either. Though not overly stifled by the small suburban atmosphere, students seem to consider the night scene left with much to be desired."

One Toke: Over the Line?

"Considering the enormity of the student body, Davis' drug problem can practically be considered nonexistent."

Find out if UC Davis truly has something for you, straight from the students' mouths.
Visiting campus isn't enough.

About the Author:
Writing this book has been a wonderful experience. After finally declaring myself as an English major, I decided to plunge into the field and try my hand at freelance writing. This book is the fruit of my labors. Hopefully, it is the start of a future career in creative writing and the start of a line of publications. I have always been fascinated by language, but what little background I have has been rooted in poetry. This book was a wonderful and challenging opportunity to expand my horizons, and I hope it offers insightful information about Davis. Currently, I m a sophomore at UCD tirelessly working towards degrees in English and some branch of science that I haven t decided on yet possibly microbiology or environmental science. Continuing my education here has been a dizzying and inspiring experience; I only hope that this guidebook captured some of that unquantifiable spirit. I learned a lot in the process of writing it. I hope you get something out of it, too.

I owe many people heaps of thanks for all their support during this whole experience. Thank you Mom and Dad for your faith in me, Beez for your humor, Grandma and Papa for understanding when I had to cancel plans to meet the deadlines; Aunt Deed, Uncle Keith, and the girls for the Internet connection; Adam, Donry, Laura, Gracie-Lou, Ross-Hintze s, and Adelaide for your support. Danny, Benji, Danielle, Jack, Marge, Nina, Mari-Ferrari, Matt, and everyone else who obligingly answered the surveys, and all my roomies for broadening my perspective and enriching my college experience. Thank you Mr. Clark for getting this whole show on the road. Also, many thanks to Adam Burns and everyone at College Prowler! E-Mail me with any questions!

College Prowler is the needed link between students and guidebooks. It's students, writing for future students, about their student experience. It's like having an older sibling that went to the school and is telling you all about it.
