This book tells of the trips Barbara led to Negril, Jamaica. Coyle took students, as well as a few parents, from Cincinnati parochial and public schools. The missionaries worked among the Jamaican parishioners of Fr. James Bok, a Cincinnati native and childhood friend of the author. (Their families were neighbors in Reading, Ohio.) American youths learned to appreciate the culture and the people, who were poor in material goods, but rich in friendship and spiritual gifts. Like Ms. Barbara, they were impressed with the faith and wisdom of the Jamaican philosophy, which emphasized patience and trust that God's blessings would "soon come."
This engaging book is suitable for use in schools, libraries, religion classes, and home schools. It will prove a welcome gift from the parent or grandparent looking for an inspirational and aesthetically pleasing book to share with a child.
