Little Man in a Dog Suit kind of wrote itself. I like to think I was "channeling" Reggie, our Boston Terrier, since readers who know him think the book sounds just like the way Reggie seems to act. It's different from all my other books, which are Christian in background. Reggie the Boston is just a plain dog, though smarter than most. His religion, if he has one, is the worship of Frank, his master, whom he would rather die than offend.Those who like the Reggie book might also enjoy "The Dog Who Loved Jesus." I wrote it under the name of Barbara Rogers, and it is similar to the Reggie book in style.
Reggie had another operation, ($3000!) on his other back leg. As with the first one, the surgeon had to restructure the whole leg, which is now a collection of plates and screws. I shudder to think what would happen if Reggie were exposed to a large magnet. Anyway, he's recovering well, though he will be grounded for another month and a half, until healing is complete.Update: Healing is complete now and Reggie runs on the beach like a young pup, with no sign of pain. All is as it should be except that when he sits, his rear end hangs about two inches off the floor, no doubt the result of all the finagling on his legs. I'll soon be adding some new adventures to the e-book of Little Man in a Dog Suit. Thanks for all the kind words from readers. I have two bichon frises of my own, both of them mortally terrified of Reggie, their acknowledged pack leader. Even while he's immobilized after the second operation,. they wouldn't dare sit in his Place on the sofa. Although I love my cuddly, laidback bichons, I have to say Reggie is the funniest, most human dog I ever met. He's also the bravest, never even whimpering despite the great pain he goes through. As for me, I've published many novels and a few scholarly books, I live on the Oregon coast, where the weather is wild and the scenery wilder. After a lifetime of academic and travel adventures, I'm happy to play with my dogs, walk on the beach, and play the fascinating video game, Skyrim. I'm now a level 47, which I regard as one of my great accomplishments in life.
