Many times significant things happen to us that make us look at life differently. It is unfortunate it often takes something devastating for us to realize the things in our lives that are most important. My whole world changed. I look at things differently than I used to. I see the beauty in simple things now that I have overlooked before; the brilliant colors of the rainbow, the beauty of a butterfly, the crisp cool feel of a snowflake, the sound of the gentle wind blowing through the trees. I try to experience these things as if every time is the first time. I try not to take anything for granted anymore. I try to live each day as if it could be my last. I make sure to let my family know how much I love them. I try to appreciate the gifts I have been given. I try to remember that these gifts come from God and with Him all things are possible. He is my strength. I hope that in sharing Emmy's story with you, it might inspire you to look at your life differently. Take nothing for granted and appreciate all your gifts and blessings. Take time to cherish the things in your lives that are most important. There is that word again, that special gift, time. We truly have so much for which to be thankful. Tammy Mott is a full time employee for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. In addition, she is a mother and a homemaker. She lives with her husband Denny in Northwestern Pennsylvania. They are devoted to bringing up their children JP and Jesse. Over the past years, they have been foster parents to several other children who are now living in permanent homes. Tammy has the heart and the love to bring happiness to children. She has endured the unimaginable devastation from the passing of her four-year-old child Emmy. Writing about Emmy's journey has been her way to cope with this great loss and share her experiences with others.
