Former FBI agent Ella Clah is now a Special investigator with the native police force. her brother, Clifford, a medicine man, says that her investigative skills are gifts from the spirits who guard and guide the Navajo, but Ella insists it's her training that has her honed her instincts.

The Navajo are in turmoil. the tribal police are spread thin throughout the vast reservation, trying to rein in gang violence, murderous drunk drivers, and race riots.

Ella's newest assignment is to solve the murder of an old friend's fiancee. Ella is shocked to discover signs of skinwalker activity in the woman's home--was her friend's fiancee a Navajo witch, a hereditary enemy of Ella's family.

Ella must solve the murder, do something to stop drinking and driving on the Rez, and keep Navajo teenagers from killing each other, while trying to find and fight her oldest enemies.

From the Author:
The Ella Clah series was inspired by my high school reunion on the Navajo Nation at Shiprock. My memories of childhood friends and neighbors, and the experiences we shared while growing up on the Rez sparked the birth of Ella and the series.

Aimee has acquired a deep respect and admiration for the Navajo culture and people, something instilled in me at an early age. We try to write respectfully and honestly about our Navajo characters, hoping that the readers will appreciate the Navajos as a unique culture. As with every group there are scoundrels, and the Dineh are no exception, but we endeavor to represent the majority as the decent, honest, patriotic citizens that we've seen them to be.

In ENEMY WAY, as with the rest of the series, we present issues such as racism, poverty, alcoholism, youth gangs, and violence, certainly, but try not to preach or present society in any other way than what we perceive it to be. Our characters have to solve the mystey, and come up with their own solutions to the problems they face.

If the issues presented in this series as part of the mystery make you think, and you find our stories entertaining, then we will have accomplished what we set out to do.

About the Author:
Aimée and David Thurlo have been married for more than thirty years and have been writing novels together for nearly that long, in a variety of genres including romance, young adult, and mystery. They have three ongoing mystery series, the Sister Agatha series, starring a cloistered nun, the Lee Nez series, featuring a Navajo vampire who teams up with a female FBI agent to fight crimes that have elements of the supernatural, and their flagship series, the critically-acclaimed Ella Clah novels. Several Ella Clah novels, including Tracking Bear, Red Mesa, and Shooting Chant, have received starred reviews from Booklist.

David Thurlo was raised on the Navajo Indian Reservation and later taught school in Shiprock, also on the Rez. Aimée, a native of Havana, Cuba, has lived in New Mexico for more than thirty years. The Thurlos share their home with dogs, horses, and various pet rodents. They have written more than fifty novels which have been published in more than twenty countries.
